About Daska Hatton
Do you suffer from insomnia, digestive disorders, hypersensitivity, panic attacks?
Are you tired of feeling exhausted, rundown, and tense all the time?
These are all part of the physical effects of stress.
Stress in itself is not necessarily a problem. What matters is simply how we deal with it, how we are resourced or how we learn to either resource ourselves to mitigate the harmful side effects, or conversely, how we learn to be helpless in the face of stress or allow it to become an habitual state.
Problems start to occur when tensions, instead of being released when the immediate situation has passed, become stored in the body. After time this starts to disturb the normal tone and begins to cause a reduction in general efficiency. As defence mechanisms become weakened, the body becomes less and less able to deal with further stresses creating a vicious circle and eventually manifesting in various stress related symptoms. As we all know, this state can become habitual and it becomes harder to return to a state of balance.
I start by looking at how stress affects you, both physically and mentally. What are your symptoms?
I’ll teach you:
• How to learn ways of coping – we can’t necessarily deal with the external circumstances but we can start to learn ways to release excess tension.
• To begin to learn how to resource yourself so that you are more able to deal with the ups and downs of life.
• To learn how the body and mind are connected – this is a two way bridge, start to calm the body and see how this in turn allows the mind some peace.
Alexander Technique
I work with the Alexander Technique to show you how to use your body with less tension to regain a sense of freedom and with Craniosacral Therapy to allow a much needed sense of stillness and quietness within.
The Alexander Technique quite simply says that the way that you use your body affects how it works, or to put it another way, use affects function. It is not a treatment as such but a series of lessons enabling you to explore how your body works.
Craniosacral Therapy
This is one of the most effective methods of reducing stress. Through the lightest of touches you may start to feel your body unwind and begin to be able to release long standing patterns of tension.

Daska Hatton is the co-author of "Every Body Tells a Story".
The book invites you into the therapy room to experience a therapeutic encounter through the lens of Craniosacral Therapy, discussing ways that therapists and clients can work together to optimise the success of treatment.
Describing a unique journey through ten bodywork sessions, the authors take you behind the scenes to witness the client’s voyage of discovery, and how the encounter appears both to her and her therapist during the course of treatment. The book shows how the perspectives of both participants develop through their shared experience and examines the ups and downs of the therapeutic relationship. The authors share their own experiences of more than 40 years in practice using examples from myth and legend to place the work in a wider context.
"An interesting insight into the work of these healers and the compassion and thought they bring to their clients."
